Goodness gracious,
it’s been a long time since an update! We have done soooo much in the past few
months, it’s almost like a REAL job! We’ve been back to the Florida Keys, to
Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, Dallas all around Florida, the Bahamas and next week we’re
headed to Costa Rica!
Puerto Rico was the
best time we’ve ever had in our lives! The people were AWESOME (including our
phenomenal production coordinator who showed us all the local spots), the place
was beautiful and the final pieces were some of our favorites. We did 5 spots
in total that Riley hosted, which was a break from what we’d been doing so
far.
Then it was off to the
exotic land of…..Ft. Lauderdale! Just 2 spots. An overview and a piece on
family activities. And since it was local, we got a chance to “cast” all of OUR
family and friends. Riley’s grandma gets an interview, along with 3
nieces and almost a dozen of our friends. Yeah, we faked a bunch of it, but
luckily all of the people we know are already actors, so the general public won’t
be the wiser!
Then, we had another
project NOT for the Travel Channel, but for the Palm Beach County School
District. It was on Pine Jog Elementary School, Palm Beach’s first gold
certified LEED school, which just means it’s INCREDIBLY green. Good people
doing good things for our environment and making a tremendous impact on
children and the community. Really inspiring to produce this 10 minute video
and quite an honor to be chosen to present this school to the world. This video
will certainly be up on our site soon, so keep checking back.
Okay, we JUST got back
from the Bahamas to do a collaborative piece with Travel Channel, Yahoo Travel
and Verizon. Some product placement with the Samsung Renown. It should be on
Yahoo Travel in October, I think. Just one 3 minute spot. We had fun in Nassau
when we skipped the tourist traps and started talking to the PEOPLE! We took a
carriage ride to where the locals live, found out about Junkanoo culture and
ate some street food (street food is our FAVORITE in any country!). We were
there the same weekend as the Miss Universe pagent, but the only beauty queen I
saw was Riley!
FYI, Travel Channel is revamping their website with an October release, so a bunch of our stuff will be there then. When that happens, I’ll post links out the wazoo. And hopefully I’ll have a compilation here of all of our work with them and a revamped site in general. In the meantime, thanks for your support and enthusiasm and I PROMISE it will not take me so long between updates in the future!
And, OH YEAH.......We just won a bid to produce a NATIONAL PSA for libraries all across America! This is a HUUUUGE deal for us and we're waaaaay excited! Woo hoo!!!
April 3rd
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!
We just finished up a 7 minute segment on Panama City Beach for the Travel Channel which aired April 2nd and now it looks like we'll be producing five 2-3 minute spots on San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is a big ole project and it has a really fast deadline on it, so I'll really be putting my new MacBook Pro to the test! We
re excited about these pieces because, one- PUERTO RICO! And two - they will actually be hosted by Riley. All the spots for the Travel Channel that we have done in the past year haven't had a host, so it will be a great chance for us to strut our stuff for the big boys. I'll let you know when they are posted on the web.

We're currently working on post production for the Florida Keys spots (though we have a couple more shoot days yet in order to get the scuba and snorkeling stuff). And we're REALLY excited about a new project that we just started production on last week - a 10 minute overview of Palm Beach County School District's first GREEN school - Pine Jog Elementary. We've shot there a couple of times before, but it was always just a small, 30 second or so section of a longer piece on Palm Beach County schools. Now, we get to devote an entire 10 minute spot just to Pine Jog and highlight the INCREDIBLE work they do there. WOW! Their website is below, but it doesn't do the school justice. That's what our video will do! We'll make sure to post it here when it's done.

Well, the recent project we did for the Travel Channel went well - 20 Miami point of interest videos for Travel Channel GO! (Their new mobile platform) so we're in the Florida Keys doing 20 more POI videos for this area! FUN!
When we get back, besides editing, we're continuing to travel around to libraries all over Florida. This is our third year as professional speakers for the state library presenting our full day Florida Libary Youth Program workshops. Literacy is kind of our thing, so we really dig leading these workshops.
Also, it's standardized test taking season here in Florida and since we have a Test Taking Video Series that helps reduce FCAT stress, we're travelling around to elementary schools performing our multi-media motivational test taking show "Train Your Brain!"
Whew! If that's not enough, Riley JUST got her new book published, "The Great Pizza Contest" and we're planning a little book tour for the summer.
Keep checking back here for updates!
